What is this collection?
To date this collection has run a whole series of free DIY filmmaking workshops at venues across the city and beyond. These workshops are open to anyone and show their participants how to successfully plot, storyboard, shoot, edit and present a complete short film all in one day. No prior experience or fancy tech is necessary – the workshops have turned out incredible films shot on mobile phones and brilliant pieces by budding first-time filmmakers. Due to overwhelming demand this collection will continue to run these workshops throughout 2010. this collection also organised a successful poet-filmmaker speed dating event at the Scottish Poetry Library in early March 2010, which provided an opportunity for poets and filmmakers to meet, discuss ideas, and begin collaborations.
The speed dating event was partly in preparation for the first this collection poetry and film showcase, which will take place on Thursday 25th March and Friday 26th March 2010 in Edinburgh's magnificent McEwan Hall. This event will provide a spectacular public platform for the 100 this collection poems, and the film adaptations we've gathered so far, as well as providing an opportunity for members of the public to find out more about the project and potentially get involved!
